ST. LOUIS – American Dream PAC today launched a new ad “Wrong,” highlighting Merchant Marine Academy Dropout Jay Ashcroft’s position that Missouri veterans should be denied the benefits they’ve earned.
“Jay Ashcroft recently outlined his position to deny Missouri veterans the benefits they’ve rightfully earned. Under Jay Ashcroft, veterans who serve their country in uniform would receive no VA benefits, no military exemptions, and no discounts of any kind. While he attacks Missouri veterans, Jay Ashcroft refuses to release his own record detailing his dismissal from the Merchant Marines Academy, which would reveal if he received special treatment after he was kicked out,” said Rich Chrismer, a spokesperson for American Dream PAC.

Background:
During a forum at the Missouri Republican Party’s Lincoln Days in Kansas City on February 17, 2024, Jay Ashcroft was asked how Missouri can better support veterans and active-duty military personnel.
Ashcroft replied:
“I don’t think we ought to treat people based on classifications,” he said. “I think we ought to treat everybody equally. And I don’t think we ought to say that if you live here, we’re gonna charge you this, but if you live here, we charge you this. I don’t think we ought to say if you’re in the military, we’ll give you this discount, but everybody else has to pay twice as much. I don’t think that’s good government.”
